Can I apply with a co-applicant?

Yes. The applicant or co-applicant must be the homeowner designated on the deed. If you’re a current Alabama Power customer, the account holder or responsible party for the account must apply as an applicant or co-applicant for billing purposes. If you’re not an Alabama Power customer, no problem! You don’t have to have electric service with Alabama Power to apply. We finance projects around the state if the customers’ residence is in Alabama. Just apply as a non-Alabama Power customer. Additionally, if a legal Power of Attorney is involved, please submit the POA document to a Smart Financing provider before making an application.

What are the requirements to apply for financing?

The applicant or co-applicant must own home and land as designated on the deed where the work is being done. This will be verified in county property records or tax records. Please be prepared to show your deed if requested

What is a co-applicant?

A co-applicant is a person who signs the contract with you and can be held responsible for the loan. By adding a co-applicant, unless the co-applicant has filed for bankruptcy, it should only enhance your approval process.

Do I have to be an Alabama Resident?
